Australian Forestry Standard Limited (AFS Ltd)

Australian Forestry Standard Limited (AFS Ltd) is a not-for-profit company responsible for developing and maintaining Australian Standards for Sustainable Forest Management.

The primary functions of AFS Ltd are to:

  • promote sustainable forest management of Australia’s forests through Australian Standard 4708 (The Australian Forestry Standard)
  • provide chain of custody certification through the Australian Standard 4707 (Chain of Custody for certified wood and forest products)
  • support and maintain the development of the AFS Ltd and other related complementary standards
  • maintain accreditation as an SDO
  • support and facilitate the use of the AFS Ltd, and any related standards, for forestry certification within Australia and see and maintain mutual recognition for the AFS Ltd internationally.

AFS Ltd is also the PEFC National Governing Body for Australia and the Australian Forest Certification Scheme has been endorsed by the PEFC.
